My sister lived in Moblie Alabama and they got a cat who chased and killed them as if they were mice. I’m pretty sure they are harmless and won’t bother you too much. I’d ignore the ones in your back yard. They are probably eating bugs that would be more of a problem.

Like gecko’s? Gecko’s are good lizards, they eat spiders and mosquito’s. It’s actually a good idea to keep a couple in your house so they eat all the bugs for you. They won’t hurt you.

But don’t put them in your house if you have a cat because the cat will kill them.

    Be very glad they’re there!

Lizards are 100% hamless to you and, in fact, are very beneficial. Their diet is primarily bugs, which would be a lot more prevalent without lizards (and snakes, frogs, etc). And, really, there’s probably no good way to get rid of them, anyway.

not entirely sure where u are located, but back when i lived in florida we had lots of little lizards…chamillions…. running around. There are sooo many that it would be rather difficult to control then honestly. As to resolve this problem i would say maybe call a local exterminator. Im sure there could be traps or a chemical that can be used to control or minimise the amount of “unwanted guests” to your yard

Why? They are totally harmless! Plus they consume an enormous amount of insects, which aren’t always harmless (did you know the mosquito is responsible for more deaths every year than any other animal on earth)

You shouldn’t make any extraordinary efforts to kill lizards, they are an important and useful component of natural balance. These little creatures help to keep the insect population down and even if they should get into the house, are very easy to catch and put back outside.

Don’t kill something unless it harms you, there’s a reason for their existence.

It depends upon where you live as to the type of lizards that are native, or imported types. And, there are safe and deadly types, too, but for the most part, they are wayyyyyyy more scared of you than vice-versa.

The worst that can happen is that one very frightened lizard can bite you (which would be like a nip) and you can get some bacterial ailment. You would need to check immediately with a hospital and get antibiotics and sterile dressing. Would be helpful to them to know what kind of lizard, too, so be prepared to be very descriptive of the size, color, shape, eye details, where it was living and such.

Even if we are not handling them, they do leave harmful bacterias like: salmonellosis and arizonosis. People who visit zoos and touch the cages or protective fencing around animals like lizards oft times come down with serious illnesses due to contact with these and other bacterias.

I live in North Texas by Dallas. We have several native lizards that come & go about but are rarely seen. A new one to come about is the Mediterrarean or Turkish Gecho. They came over via ships back in the 1970’s arriving in Florida and migrated to my area. They are darling! I caught nine wild ones and raised 4 for 4 yrs, and 5 for 2 years. They live well in captivity if you keep the cages clean & food supply healthy. Their lifespan is 2 yrs in the wild, but somehow I was able to keep them over 4 yrs, till I set them loose again out in the country, away from the city (which is where I found them).

If ones like the Turkish gecho get into your home, it is not a major issue. The gecho is commonplace in the Phillipines where they often live in people’s homes and are welcomed in ridding the home of flies, gnats, mosquitoes, roaches, crickets and such. They can be very beneficial! The bad part is when they ‘potty’ that is toxic and has to be carefully cleaned up and disinfected.

I hoped I cleared up some questions you had on this..
