I just till up a patch of grass when I want a fire. It grows back eventually.

I did when I lived in Florida.
I don’t remember digging out snakes.

I do have a fire pit but I have it set up so I can fill it in when I wont be using it. I also have a mulch pit so I use any extra dirt to fill in from there.
