Fire Pit & Wooden Deck - Solutions?

We purchased a fire pit table. We asked if we were able to use it on a wooden deck and were told yes. We used it tonight and were concerned because it got really hot. Is there something that we can purchase to put under the table as a buffer? I would hate to damage our deck by using the table but we love the table. HELP!
