Fireplace fan?

By admin | December 27, 2007

binkisoto79 asked:

I have a fireplace at home and it does not give off any heat. It is gas and I was looking for a fireplace fan but it has to be installed where a vent would be. We don’t have an option of a vent and it is all stoned in. What can I do to get the heat out of the fireplace into the house instead of it sucking all of the air out?

We have gas logs in a fireplace. We turn on the ceiling fan so that it is blowing up, which pulls the heat out of the fireplace and pushes it up over the fan blades and distributes out into the room.. It heats up nearly all of the downstairs and gets the livingroom really cozy.

I do not understand totally the question..There is a fan that you can install to get the heat into the room.. If I were you.. I would go to a fireplace store and ask if they have the fan

Putting a fan in front of the fire place sounds dangerous. If the flue damper is adjustable and ccan be adjusted safely with afire init you can partially close it after the fire has started and preserve the heat from the embers and draw less air out of your home.If you close it to much you smoke up your home.

The fireplace fans sold to be used in masonry fireplaces fit behind the logs & arch over the top of the flame which heats the air as it is drawn into the unit from below.

If you want more heat try ventfree gas logs. 99.9% of the heat come back in the room instead of up the chimney. If your fireplace was designed to burn only gas you cannot install ventfree logs. If it is a wood burning fireplace that has a gas line ran to it you can use ventfree logs. Here are a few links.
