i am going to be building one mid summer, im going to use fire rated brick and mortar… the exterior of it will be large river rock.

my best advice would be a tractor rim. But then again, I live on a ranch 20 miles from the nearest town

Before you build, pay attention to a few things. If you have never grilled in the garden before, do so. What direction is the wind coming from. Where is your favorite place to grill in the garden where the smoke won’t affect neighbors, drift into the house or burn leaves on nearby trees. Then when you know where it should be, decide what it should look like and the qualities it should have….closed grill? Baker oven? Pizza oven? Plate warmer? Open pit with seating? Chimney? Built in table or shelf? Size of Racks? Two or more racks? Build for your needs and when you want to entertain. Collect your ideas and make your decisions and when that’s done, go get your materials and make it. :)
