First, make sure that it is legal or that you have permission to start a fire on the beach. It is as real bum to get one going and be sitting back when the po - po show up and bust it down.

Easy start supplies include: dry wood in 18 - 24 inch length (easy size to work with), some kenneling (small twigs and branches broken up to 18 - 24 inch lengths, a shovel, a bucket to put out your fire, and a rail road fuse (a.k.a a highway flair).

Dig a pit about 18 inches deep by 3 foot around. This will serve as a wind-block and a place for you ash (not trash)

Next pile the kenneling in the hole, and light the fuse. Do not pull the fuse toward you when striking it. The “embers” are burning at +/- 750 degrees.

Place the lit fuse under the kenneling (remember heat rises). After a couple of minutes add some of the logs.

The fuse will burn for 20 - 30 minutes depending on the size and type. It is safer than lighter fluid or other excellerants. Do not cook food over the fuse. It’s fumes are not good for you.

Be sure to extinguish your fire (cold to the touch) before you go.

This is a fast and easy way to get you beach fire going. Be careful and have a good night at the beach. I wish I could be the.
